Interjection (विस्मयादिबोधक)

An Interjection is a word or phrase used to express sudden emotions, feelings, or reactions.

Note: Interjections often appear with an exclamation mark (!) because they express strong feelings.
What is an Interjection?

An interjection is a word used to express happiness, surprise, sorrow, pain, excitement, or other emotions.

Wow! What a beautiful painting.
Oh! I forgot my wallet.

Interjections are usually used at the beginning of a sentence.

These interjections are used to express sadness, grief, pain, or disappointment.

Alas! The poor man lost his house.
Oh no! I failed the exam.
Ah! My leg hurts.

Alas! = हाय! / अफसोस
Oh no! = अरे नहीं!
Ah! = आह!

Interjections of Surprise (आश्चर्य व्यक्त करने वाले)

These interjections show surprise, amazement, or shock.

Wow! What a beautiful garden!

Wow! = वाह!
Oh! = ओह!
What! = क्या!

Interjections of Approval (प्रशंसा व्यक्त करने वाले)

These interjections are used when we praise or appreciate someone.

Bravo! = शाबाश!
Well done! = बहुत अच्छा!

These interjections are used for greeting people or attracting attention.

Hello! = नमस्ते

Important Rules of Interjections
