Present Perfect Tense

Present Perfect Tense is used to describe actions that have been completed recently or actions that have a connection with the present time.

Note: Present Perfect Tense uses has/have + V3 (Past Participle Form).
What is Present Perfect Tense?

Present Perfect Tense describes actions that happened in the past but their result is important in the present.

✔ They have finished the work.
Uses of Present Perfect Tense

Negative Sentence Structure

Negative sentences show that an action has not been completed.

Structure:

Subject + has/have + not + V3 + Object
✔ I have not completed my homework.
✔ We have not finished the project.
✔ He has not gone to school.
✔ She has not written the letter.

Short Forms:
have not = haven't
has not = hasn't

Interrogative Sentence Structure

Interrogative sentences are used to ask questions.

Structure:

Has/Have + Subject + V3 + Object?
✔ Have you completed your work?
✔ Have they arrived?
✔ Has he finished his homework?
✔ Has she written the application?

The helping verb comes before the subject.

WH Question Sentences

WH Questions begin with What, Why, When, Where, Who, Which, and How.

Structure:

Present Perfect focuses on the result, while Past Indefinite focuses on a completed action at a specific time.
